AT YOUR OWN RISK

On Nov 29, 2002, the Captain Stacy IV broke down at sea. Through a series of blunders made by an extremely foul-mouthed crew, the Captain Stacy IV sat anchored 35 miles off shore as the weather conditions deteriorated. Huge waves tossed the boat around as the passengers became sicker and sicker. Eventually an extremely competent and impressive Coast Guard came to the rescue and towed the disabled boat to Fort Macon, 10 hours past our scheduled return time.

NO ONE APOLOGIZED. NO ONE OFFERED WATER OR SNACKS AFTER 20 HOURS ON THE BOAT (THERE WERE SMALL CHILDREN ON THE BOAT.) THERE WERE NO OFFERS OF DISCOUNTED FUTURE TRIPS OR REFUNDS FOR THIS TRIP, CUT SHORT BY MECHANICAL FAILURE AND VERY POOR JUDGEMENT. ANY PERSONAL GEAR LEFT ON THE BOAT DISAPPEARED.

And this was not the only time this boat has failed.

The owners did have the nerve to complain the next day about having to buy new batteries. Get over it. It's all part of maintenance. Equipment repair and replacement is part of the cost of doing business.

There are other head boats in the area that actually welcome your business and don't treat you as if they're doing you a favor by taking your money.

This site is not the product of any competitor. It was created, maintained and owned by Skip Ogden to let others know what happened and what risks you're taking on this boat. Things go wrong, but it would have been handled with professionalism and compassion rather than incompetence and disinterest.
